My e-mail to my mom.
Note to self: Macs are only cool for Blogger posting. Sweet!
"Apologies in advance for typos and weird order of saying things. I can't really spend time making the letter make sense, ya know. =P
Ack. Macs are crazy...
Yeah, the room had a thermostat and, convieniently, windows. So with that combination, the room isn't freezing anymore.
I've been tired, and I don't really know why, since I'm getting to sleep at 11 and getting up at 7 [6:45 today, but my roommates' gonna sleep in tomorrow! Hooray!]
11 is way too early to go to sleep! Hopefully I'll adjust.
Yeah, we have brass class for about two hours each day. Right now we're working on a german sonata and the Holst 2nd Suite [we played it in band this year] in quintets. Well, we added a euphonium. So it's a sextet with an extra trombone/tuba doubling parts.
Ginnie's the other tuba player. Better know as Genevieve [or however that's spelled]. [See 8th grade all-district band if you don't remember!] It's weird to see her again... There's a bass trombone and a few tenor trombones, five trumpets, three french horns, and a euph. Alan said we'd get to work on brass band music some time, so I can't wait for that. He's also gonna try and get an all-strings professional orchestra to do a full symphonic ensemble with us! That'd be really cool...
So far we haven't really done much theory or Musical Paleontology, so I can't really say much on them [we have those every other day for about an hour].
The food's pretty good, and there're always burgers/hot dogs to fall back on. But I'd get sick of them quick...
Art Crackers is weird so far. We watched videos and read random excerps and listened to some crazy "modern" music yesterday, then had discussions on it. I think they're trying to "open our minds," but it'll get old quick if they keep on doing it...
On a different note, why is the campus so HUGE? It took me 15 minutes to walk to the fitness place for Explorations today, and I was already tired when I got there! Unfortunately, we can't swim this week, for some reason they didn't really disclose to us. So I had to do the "excercise room." Basically I did a bike thing for most of it. At least I don't have to find something to do tomorrow-- we have our library tour then.
Anyways. I'll talk to you later. [Gray Court computers are empty after dinner. And all four work now! Yay!]"
10 minute limits on the computers. Don't expect essays, as I can't USUALLY stay on this long.
