I don't think it's rained at all today. It's been hot and icky.
The Kings of Swing thing last night got cancelled because it rained for about 30 minutes right before/during the start of the concert, so we had the night off.
We're having tonight's concert INDOORS, so they can't cancel it unless Booker catches on fire or something [which would be BAAAAAD].
We're having our first field trip [with the brass group] to play for some summer camp [in Petersburg at one of the governor's schools?] on Thursday. That should be pretty cool.
We changed "quintets" today, so I'm with two french horns, a tbn, a euph, two trumpets and myself. The quintet we got is on CRACK. The "trombones" acted like they knew what was going on, but in retrospect, they messed up a lot of things too.
The first day of Advanced Theory wasn't as hard as I expected. We did some dictation stuff, and we have to write a counter melody for our melody that corresponds to our partner's instrument. My partner is a alto sax, so we're making tuba/alto sax duets. That'd be really interesting to listen to. =D
The Music Library didn't have the recording, but they had the score to the symphony. The score actually transposed all of the parts to concert pitch, so I just have to figure out what all the instrument names are [they're weird, like "corno" and "fagotto"--some other language].
We had to do a little more dance but there weren't any cameras! So nooooo pictures. We finished looking at the pictures, so we'll start something new tomorrow.
I did "Veni Vidi Edi - I came, I saw, I ate" for Explorations [eating Italian food]. It was in a weird location [they changed it at the last minute to "apartment 1205"-- in an apartment complex, it turns out, but no one had eveer been there], and it took almost the whole time to cook the noodles, but it was good. We had a little plate of big thick homemade noodles and meat sauce. The sauce was really good, but it had --chicken liver-- in it. ^^; We got a little tub of italian ice [it was supposed to be gelato, but she couldn't find any], which was good in small quantities.
I have NO idea what the concert tonight is. It's called "Inner Rhythm." I guess I'll find out.
